  • 1 can (20 oz) crushed pineapple in juice (do not drain)

For the topping:

  • 1 package (3.4 oz) instant vanilla pudding mix

  • 1 cup cold milk

  • 1 container (8 oz) whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed

  • Optional: extra crushed pineapple or pineapple tidbits for garnish


Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Prepare the cake batter according to the directions on the box.

  • Gently fold the entire can of crushed pineapple (with juice) into the cake batter.

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

  • Bake for 28 to 33 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  • Let the cake cool completely in the pan.

  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the pudding mix and cold milk until smooth. Let it sit for a couple of minutes until slightly thickened.

  • Fold the whipped topping into the pudding mixture until well combined.

  • Spread the pudding mixture evenly over the cooled cake.
